Demo to Keep Toronto's Sunnybrook HIV Clinic Open

TELL THE HOSPITAL BOARD TO

KEEP THE SUNNYBROOK HIV CLINIC OPEN!

DEMONSTRATE!

APRIL 25, 2000

3:30 PM
Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute Building 43 Wellesley Street East
(across from Wellesley Subway Stn.)

Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre has said it may close the Sunnybrook HIV Clinic to cut costs to pay its deficit.

BUT:

  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic serves over 750 patients.
  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic provides specialist support to over 500 doctors.
  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic has existed at the current location since 1988.
  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic serves many HIV positive women.
  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic serves people from Toronto and all over Central Ontario.
  • The Sunnybrook HIV Clinic does NOT lose money - it receives adequate funds from the Ontario Ministry of Health.
  • If the Sunnybrook HIV Clinic were to close there is no place for the 750 patients to go for care:  all other HIV Clinics are overloaded.
