THERE'S going to be a lot of laughter and some mighty big tunes this spring!

'we're funny that way' returns for a three-day festival of riotous laughs and ribald musical acts.  The fun takes place from May 3 - 6, 2000.  Hosted by comedian Maggie Cassella, the event will feature comedy and musical talent from Canada and the United States.  It will all be happening at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 12 Alexander Street in downtown Toronto.

Maggie Cassella, Executive Producer of 'we're funny that way,' unveiled the line-up at this year's event, beginning with Broadway star Lea Delaria, and including such performers as queer stand-up pioneer Suzanne Westenhoeffer, Filipino-American theatre star Alec Mapa, Nora Burns and Mike Albo, and from Toronto, Sonja Mills performing with Kathryn Haggis and Teresa Pavlinke with Shoshana Sperling and Craig Lauzon.

But it's also about music!  Adding a new dimension to this year's event, Ms. Cassella announced the inclusion of musical acts.  Every inch a star, Lea Delaria gives her Canadian premiere of 'It's Delightful, It's Delicious, It's DeLaria.'  Cutting edge doesn't get much sharper than Bitch & Animal.  This funky twisted chick duo from NYC sing, play electric fiddle, freak out on bass and African drums, and top it off with ukulele rock.

'we're funny that way' is a non-profit event whose net proceeds each year are donated to charity.  The Festival has donated over $40,000 to charities in its first three years.  This year, the Festival will again benefit the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation.
